Undergraduate Students

School of Education
The School of Education offers a BA in Childhood Studies and a BA in English, Language and Education. These interdisciplinary degrees are designed for both school-leavers and mature students. The degrees offer a broad foundation for career choices in the education, health, social care, and leisure industries, including multi-professional teams.
School of Sociology and Social Policy
Both The Times and The Guardian rank the School in the top ten sociology and social policy departments in the UK. The size of our school means you can tailor your chosen programme to reflect your personal interests. From crime to ethnicity, gender to protest, globalisation to government policy, our modular degrees allow you to explore a broad range of issues within the social sciences.
School of Politics and International Studies
The School has a considerable reputation for the quality of its teaching and the innovative character of its degree programmes. We offer a wide range of undergraduate programmes in politics, international development and international relations. During your time here, you will meet people from a wide variety of backgrounds with diverse opinions and outlooks, making this an exciting and friendly place to study.
School of Law
We offer qualifying law degrees (LLB schemes) and undergraduate BA degrees. We recruit about 260 undergraduate students each year, so we are large enough to offer a broad range of optional courses, yet small enough to maintain an informal and friendly atmosphere. There are over 3,000 applications each year for the LL.B., and our entry requirements are high.
Childhood Studies
The School of Education's BA in Childhood Studies was rated as 24 out of 24 in the last QAA review of teaching quality.
Politics and Parliamentary Studies
Students on the Politics and Parliamentary Studies BA spend six months in Westminster and then six months in either the Canadian Parliament or the US Congress as part of their degree.
